Language Access for Families
Language Allocation Policy at P4K
At P4K, we align our practices with the New York City Department of Education’s Language Allocation Policy to ensure our Multilingual Learners/English Language Learners (MLLs/ELLs) thrive in an inclusive and supportive environment. Our goal is to foster language development through a balanced approach that celebrates cultural diversity, promotes academic success, and builds bilingual proficiency.
In alignment with NYC DOE guidelines, P4K’s instructional model emphasizes:
- Home Language Support: Valuing and incorporating students’ native languages into learning to build a strong linguistic foundation.
- Academic Vocabulary Development: Integrating robust vocabulary instruction across all content areas to support literacy and critical thinking.
- Hands-On and Digital Learning: Providing engaging, multimodal opportunities to enhance comprehension and language acquisition.
We are committed to creating equitable learning environments that empower MLLs/ELLs with special needs, ensuring their unique strengths and abilities shine. At P4K, language is not only a tool for communication but also a bridge to cultural pride and academic achievement.
